Sounds like Oakland is coming over to Mountain View to commit crimes over here?

Well, we're currently releasing people from prison because we can't afford to house them any longer - what's the point in chasing them down? Those being released aren't even on probation...we're on our way to becoming a lawless state! I don't believe in keeping guns, but may be forced to do so out of necessity!

There have been so many crimes like this lately - a bank on Castro robbed, a cigarette store on El Camino Real robbed , a couple robbed on their way home from Castro and now this? Don't these people have any morals?
I know - many people are desperate financially but these people are probably drug addicts from East Palo Alto. Those poor people there who are just trying to survive have to put up with rampant drug dealing and violence. How sad. What can be done to stop that horrible cycle?

Yes, it is feeling very unsafe out there these days but buying a gun isn't the answer - education is!

Lock your doors,cars,bikes,kids. We are under a bad economy assault. Those people you see standing at the intersection with a please help sign are not from here, and they will steal you blind if given the chance. I travel all around the bayarea and see groups of down and outers everywhere. Sorry if you don't like what I'm saying, but its the honest truth.

Mountain View is not the same anymore... it's starting to resemble Downtown San Jose. This really sucks... damn stupid ghetto a** people.. GO AWAY!!!!!

What an example of stupidity and wasted lives. Grown up men with nothing better to do with their day than to fill their trousers with stolen booze.

Mountain View is a great city and everyone is welcome! We cannot control who chooses to commit a crime in this city. They probably chose Mtn. View because we are such a great city. Our police do an excellent job. They protect us and do their job very well. 99% of the police officers are very professional and open minded as well.

I am positive they are going to catch these guys. Mountain View police are good. Trust me.

Based on this article, it looks like they are from Oakland.

Oakland has doubled there street patrols, and dropped it's crime rate by 20%. [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment] Don't let crime in the city.

I hate to say it, but I'll do so again here. We may think we have a safe city overall, but these crimes seem to strike at us right out of the blue, and without any warning, at any place, and at any time. Not to be paranoid, but please, folks, be aware of you surroundings, as well as your personal belongings. Be safe.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Police have arrested one man in connection with a string of armed robberies in Mountain View this month, including one at a 7-Eleven store Saturday night, a spokeswoman said.

Derreck Stamper, 20, of Newark, was arrested after a police chase that spanned into East Palo Alto when a K-9 unit and his handler, a Mountain View police officer, apprehended him, police spokeswoman Liz Wylie said.

Stamper was believed to have been involved in at least three of six robberies that occurred in Mountain View this month, she said.

All six of the robberies have similar suspect descriptions and were committed in similar fashions, and authorities believe they are being committed by the same suspects, according to Wylie.

Stamper was one of three men to rob the 7-Eleven store Saturday night, she said. The other two remain at large.

Each of the six robberies in Mountain View this month involved two or three men dressed in black and carrying small handguns, Wylie said.

parent: That article refers to the 7-11 robbers. I don't think these are the Rite Aid booze-in-the-pants perps. Those guys weren't armed, except for the car which they used as a weapon.
