Pedal-powered taxis roll down Castro

Original post made on Jan 15, 2010

The latest form of transit in downtown Mountain View may be low-tech, but it also seems a perfect fit for these modern times, being easy on both the environment and the pocketbook.

THIS IS SO AWESOME!! I live a few streets away from downtown and don't like to drive all of the time... and it's safer than some dummy getting behind the wheel after a few drinks. YAY!!!

I hope this company starts serving Palo Alto as well.

You know, when I first saw them last weekend my first reaction was "what the hell is this," but I must admit that the more I thought about it, the more I like the concept and may in fact utilize their services.

this is SOOOOO cool! So I could call them and get picked up and taken downtown instead of driving and parking - plus what a great way to see things. I hope we see some new street signs with the universal symbol for "Watch out for foot-pedaled vehicles ahead" :) Mpuntain View is such a great place to live...

This is great! I just broke my toe and was thinking "no more walks down to Castro for a while" - but I could still enjoy the restaurants of Castro by using this service. Brilliant idea, and good for older people, too.

Oh man...after traveling to Asia several times, all I can think when I see this is:

"Really, Mountain View? Rickshaws?"

If people took rickshaws in Asia, they'd probably feel guilty. Wonder if guilt of causing someone to haul your butt around will keep people from using this service. It just still makes me sort of giggle.

This is so cool! I can't wait to use them. There are three of us, one in kindergarten so we can all probably fit. Too bad it's only during the weekend.

Will they come all the way to my house or is this just to and from the downtown area? I live in the Cuesta Park area, but close to El Camino. I would love it if they would come here and pick us up.

Dude! Pay your drivers a base wage! They've gotta mug for tips to make any money? Not cool.
