The Office Bar is a total dive which has had more than its share of trouble over the years. Frightening to think that an ex-con with meth, a stun gun, burglary tools and a police scanner was in the neighborhood. I suppose he was meeting his peers at the Office for happy hour. Kudos to the cop.

Cops *do* conduct "bar checks" on occasion for various reasons, especially to help keep the peace in the bar and its neighborhood. Perhaps "routine check" was not the best choice of words?

Hopefully the slew of recent robbery crimes are a sign of the economy and not a "big city" trend - our neighborhood used to be more peaceful!

Cops doing bar checks are really out there doing good work! Why can't that officer be identified so that credit can be given?

Also I wonder what drew the police attention to this guy in the first place. I have never seen cops go into bars and randomly ask patrons if they are on parole.
