We need more high density low cost Housing so crime will be more acceptable in the community downtown. People will get more comfortable with our buildings over time.

See he ran away, so no pollution was made, it was a green crime. K ?

Brilliant comment by the above idiot who cannot spell Prometheus. Those apartments and the attached office/retail buildings are the only reason downtown Mountain View does not still look like a 1950's movie set.

Fled into Pioneer Park?!?! What? You mean that patch of grass behind the library? Geesh, you make it sound like acres of wilderness. That is pathetic that Wells Fargo security didn't get a good image of him.

your kidding right? as many mv police officers roaming the city at any given time they couldn't catch the thief? and the police department is what ?3 blocks away??? i'm starting to worry that the town i grew up in is not as safe as it appears, even with all the police that are working here.

This is peanuts compared to what the three old ladies who just retired from City Hall just robbed from us with their diamond-studded retirement packages. I see no difference other than that the gentleman who robbed the bank probably really needed the money.

With all those police constantly cruising around downtown, not ONE of them managed to catch him? What are they doing with our money nowadays?
This is ridiculous.

Promethis on Drugs your use of sarcasm is laughable.
Property Manager makes an excellent point.
I am in complete agreement with Ed.
Underground and j. ravanelli stop whining like the MVPD don't do a great job. Last time I checked Mountain View is considered a pretty safe place.

Keep this in mind.

With the number of police officers fighting crime in Mountain View you'd think one would be close by. Maybe giving someone a ticket for tapping ashes on the ground is a more serious crime to devote time to.

"Promethis"(sic), should be Prometheus; Where do you get the idea that there is anything "low cost" about Park Place? Three stories over underground parking is a very HIGH COST type of construction. Poorly designed in terms of noise transmission, yes...low cost, NO

So, everyone here has been to that Wells, right? And Pioneer Park? You know, the Wells with the entrance almost invisible from the street. And the park with 3-4 different places to exit, all heading in different directions? What exactly do you expect MVPD to do in a situation like that?

Hmmm, a bank robber with a knife instead of a gun. Sounds like a pretty desperate man. Not that I'm approving of what he did. Did you people read the other article about the parolee that was arrested in a Mt. View bar carrying a plethora of dangerous weapons and tools for robbing? Now that's a dangerous man for our society!

(Promethis)Since when is the housing downtown low cost. If you ask me it's too expensive just like the rest of the Bay Area.

(Property Manager) See above comment. Yeah the 50's design of Castro was pretty ugly. That being said, I'm not in favor of tearing nostalgic, well built buildings. We're too quick to get rid of the old. I love seeing preserved buildings with beautiful architecture.

(Gary & Ed) Your comments are right on the money!(no pun intended) They are the real criminals.

Lordy, there are a lot of thin-skinned people in here this week.

Let's see...we have a man robbing a bank with a knife, and we have men robbing an auto parts store, then we have men robbing a cigarette store, and a nut running around on parole with tools to cause harm. Talk about your random crimes. What do people expect the Police to do? There's nothing they can do except hope to get lucky and find someone that's willing to step up and point them in a direction to catch these clowns. Thankfully no one was hurt in any of these situations. But, who knows about the next random act of stupid?

Thinnest skin I've seen this week is USA's. "I'm nothing like that politician!" Ha ha.

As for this thread, seems like it's mostly fine and then there's this promethis weirdo nobody knows what to do with.

If you want to live in a high density city move to San Francisco. Mountain View is a town in the suburbs, let's keep the town feeling to it. This is the first town I've lived in which an portion of the residents actually want more apartment housing.

who the heck are all you people? Blame blame blame, the police, the housing, a knife instead of a gun - all of you are big talkers with no substance at all. Your comments make Mtn. View look like we are in the dark ages. Just do you part. This economy is bound to bring out more desparation in people. Until you spend a day/week in the shoes of a police person I suggest you quit bitching about how they don't do anything and be thankful they are up to the challenge of defending your freedoms. No one is perfect, including you all - when you have the guts to be a police officer and vow to put your life on the line everyday then you can complain until then - be glad you weren't the teller who had a knife drawn on her/him. Like a knife is nothing...after you have been threatened by one let me know how it differs from any other weapon - get smart, be alert and remember that you are your own best defense. The ratio of police officers to residents in MV means you better be prepared for the stress this economy is putting on people - get off you high ignorant horses and be apart of the community that works together - no one is superior to anyone else when it comes to safety.

"as many mv police officers roaming the city at any given time they couldn't catch the thief?" I dought the police department has that many roaming around ... in truth they should have more officers but I am sure the city will never think public safety needs a greater budget ... at least until another major crime happends and goes unsolved.
