I am always grateful for Spare the Air Days and Nights. The air doesn't stink like soot and smoke. Wood fires emit CO2, carbon monoxide, microscopic particulates, and many other agents linked to lung cancer and heart disease. 30% of winter air pollution in the Bay Area is caused by wood burning. It's generally not used for heat but for "atmosphere" in the home. Meanwhile, asthmatics, those with COPD, emphysema, flu, and bronchitis can barely breathe in the nasty air in the neighborhoods in which people "choose" to have a lovely fire in their home.
So all I can say is "THANK YOU BAAQMD" and keep up the good work! Please ban these fires every day.
