Inconveniences caused by Dr Charles Kao (Nobel Physics Prize Winner) ?

Original post made by John W, Cuesta Park, on Dec 16, 2009

In case you didn't know, the 2009 Nobel Prize for Physics winner, Dr. Charles Kao, lives right here in Mountain View. Dr. Kao invented the fiber optics, which is the cornerstone of the entire internet and worldwide communication.

Needless to say, ever since November, Dr. Kao became an instinct celebrity. News media from all over the world, came to Mountain View, all striving to interview and look into the lives of Dr and Mrs Kao. Some even followed him around town, to document his daily retired live here in Mountain View.

While most of us embraced him with the utmost respect for his unbelievable contribution, there are folks who were upset, because the periodic filming of Dr. Kao's live around town, disrupted their daily routines. For example, I have heard of grumbling complaints in the Senior center, because folks do not want the inconvenience of rescheduling or relocating their daily routines, to accommodate a brief 30 minute filming at the center on Dr Kao.

While I understand that no one person is above any other, wouldn't it be great if we can put aside our personal interest for a brief moment? After all, it isn't everyday when we have a Nobel prize winner sprouting up in our city, and it would be the least we can do, to honor someone with such great achievements.

I would be honored to be in the presence of a Nobel Prize winner in Physics, no matter the incovenience. I have been so honored by William Shockley and John Bardeen.

I would also hope Dr Kao could give a talk in the Honor of his excellent award and the history as he remembers the invention of fiber-optics and what it meant back when.

It's one of the problems with some older people that instead of our minds expanding, they grow smaller; and so do we as persons.
Could any of these interviews also be shared with a larger audience, including teens?
