I wonder what fraction of Mountain View residents have ever worked at Stanford, attended Stanford, or worked for a company founded by a Stanford alum? I'd guess at least 1/4 of us.
When I graduated from Stanford it seemed like every engineer rented their first apartment in Mountain View and went to work for HP or Lockheed or similar old-line tech companies.

We've got the wrong slate of politicians in council office right now to know how to use this money in a reasonable way. Given that fact, I would send all of the MV money to EPA.

Good point rhe299crew, EPA is a lot better solution. The money could really be used there and it's a lot closer to Stanford.

I help a chronically homeless man who asks for money at Safeway. He was made homeless because of medical bills from diabetes and no insurance. There are many people like him here in Mountain View who deserve to be out of the rain and cold. Poverty is all over, not just in EPA.

EPA is in San Mateo county...Mtn. View is not.
If EPA wants (and I think, deserves) the $$, get on the horn to a San Mateo county Supervisor who can help.

The easy answer is to leave the money on the table. However, we seem to have a bunch of affordale housing issues up for grabs right now. Those potential occupants use roads, schools, parks, utilities, etc., just like those of us in the unaffordable housing sector. Why not use some of this Stanford extortion money on infrastructure that all of the people can use? This seems too logical to be legal I must admit.
