The proposed effort will not pass muster at HQ. The President will not sign off the funding release given the way it is. OMB will say no duckies for you California. New thoughts please.

Is someone from the Voice going to attend? If so, can you get us some clarifications?
I am still really confused on how they are going to run high speed rail through downtown mountain view with all the other tracks and roads going on. Sadly, I can't make the meeting, but I want to see some bird's eye view maps (not just the one posted that shows where elevated or tunnels might go in terms of intersections).
I'm having a lot of trouble picturing it downtown - will the Mountain View train station on Castro (along with Centennial square) need to be removed with an at-grade or raised concept? Would Central Expressway need to be narrowed?
How are they planning on routing next to the Crossings?
Etc Etc
Some pictures would be worth 1,000 words.

It is very unclear to me the idea to use mixed use rails is a very poor attempt to fit something in place. The activity is not currently funded this was clear.
Nov 23 - Gov. Schwarzenegger, U.S. Senators Feinstein and Boxer Urge President Obama to Support California High Speed and Intercity Rail Web Link
We stand ready to work with your administration in the coming years to ensure that high-speed rail has the resources necessary to continue to be a national priority.
They (Caltrain) did play some idea style video animations to relate the acoustic levels & visual of various configurations of rail installation. All is all, the whole activity is not at all mature, 15% of the paper push was quoted.

It is frustrating to see few well place moles by the real oppnents of this badly needed project. The Airlines, wich will be the big loosers, too bad, I am tired of taking of my clothes at the cattleports, just to travel to Southern CA. The thing is that we will never know who is behind the environmentals and the NIMBYs. The peninsula is lucky to be considered as the route. There are many other areas that would love this project go through their towns. Think of the opportunities. Few people will be displaced. Pay those people fair price for their property and move on quickly. Brazil just started discussing their High Speed Rail and now they are asking for bids to complete the project by 2015. This is why we are having the terrible economic problems, we are letting idiots run our society. We have been convinced that our homes were overvalue, and lost 13 trillion in wealth. In 2007 our median was 67th around the world. Keep your eyes open and think logically.
