Affordable housing is good, but:
1. We need to set high standards for occupants to avoid the drug people; eg. some combination of job stability, education, salary level.
2. $500,000 per unit is way out of line for apartments.
3. Let the private sector do this. Council should require any builder over a certain size who wants to develop here, to take a share of this.

Low income families usually have multiple cars such that all available members can work (also high income family). And as anyone who uses public transportation, Cal train, Light rail and VTA do not get you everywhere at the times you need. How does 1.8 spaces work in that neighborhood where no street parking is available? Last time I checked $500K loans needed an income of over $100k.
