I agree this is no business of City Council and who would rent to low income renters if you have all these additional responsibilities and expenses - it makes no sense and is socialism at its best.
If Councilwoman Macias and Roy Hater want to pay for relocating tenants, that's their business but it certainly isn't anyone esles. So please stop with the pseudo altruistic stuff at someone else’s expense.

Are we trying to be the next Berkeley? All this will create is a haven for renters without incentives for landlords. Berkeley does not have a sustainable economic plan for attracting businesses. Let's not make the same mistake.

As a former owner/resident of Sylvan Park area duplex , I'm glad we're living in Morgan Hill. MV might become a leftist or socialist like in City of Berkeley soon.

Affordable housing advocates needs to understand that the proposal will bring more damage to the low income families than it will help them.
If you belong to the low income group, it dose not matter you are Capitalist or Socialist. when the new rule is passed, it's going to be difficult for you to move to another apartment in the City of Mountain View. Why would a landlord rent their property to you if you are costing them more in the future.

The new ordinance will force landlords to discriminate low income applicants in their tenant selection process. A step-back for renters.
The new Ordinance will bring down the rental building property value as it become harder to manage (less desirable) for the landlords. A step-back for landlords/homeowners.
City Income is limited when the rental properties are difficult to sell (less desirable). There will be less tax revernue from property transaction. There will be less tax revernue from property tax (in a long run). A step back for the City.
The only winners are some of the City politicians. They gain visibilities and votes on the expense of Mountain View Home owners and landlords. For those of you who cares about the neighborhood, the unintended consequence of the New Ordinance will cost you in a long run. It you are not convinced, you can do some research for the following California cities: Berkley, Compton, Santa Monica etc.
Jac Siegel was right on opposing the Ordinance. He is a true Mountain View Representative who has the guts and wisdom to stand up for these ill-conceived ideas.
