The CDC and the CA Dept. of Education have recommended that districts go through specific checklists and have cooperative meetings with other local districts and health care providers. I wonder if El Camino, Mt View Whisman schools, Los Altos schools, and Los Altos-Mountain View high schools have ever met and "coordinated". Has anyone heard? I's not at all obvious from web sites or articles in the papers that they have even started (Cynthia - PAMF group would also be a wonderful addition since they have a large facility in town - but they aren't a public entity so I'd at least give them some slack on this).
Why the CDC is officially urging "cooperation": up to 1/5 of an entire population can be connected through a school system (classmates and families). If you have a child at Los Altos HS and he is exposed to a sick student who got it from a sick little sister at Crittenden MS, no one benefits. A word to the wise is sufficient - CDC has had this word out since June. Links to CDRE and CDC
