This is rich. Ms Government Employees Unions wants to cut off funding for other candidates. What about all the free labor, etc. that the unions provided her campaigns? Are they going to count as campaign contributions? Oh, I get it. These were all "volunteers." Yeah right.

The Democrats have had an SOS (Secretary of State) project that has enabled them to steal all the close elections since Florida in 2000. There latest success was the Minnesota 2008 Senate election where their SOS hand-picked man handed the election to Franken even though Coleman, the Republican, was hundreds of votes ahead on election night.

The California Fair Elections Act doesn't limit funding to any candidates. All it does is provide public funds to candidates who voluntarily choose to participate and who qualify.

The only ones being limited are the candidates who choose to participate, because they are allowed to spend only what they receive from the Fair Elections Fund. Candidates who don't want to participate can raise money however they want to under current law.

The voters will then get to decide which candidate they think is the best candidate -- not which candidate has the most money.

Almost thought this was some sort of practical joke. Does anyone really believe Ms Lieber will offer any significant reform w.r.t. to special interest groups. She sold out to private and public unions long ago which made her ineffective every time she presented legislation to provide them with additional power. Even spending constraints are easy to get around since you cant stop the supposed "independent" groups from spending money on a candidate.

As to the proposition. Some people are incredibly naive. This will only guarantee more power to incumbents and ensure more party politics.

My suggestion: Stay home and watch a new episode of Dancing with the Stars.
