Why does Mountain View smell like a sewer?

Original post made by JD, North Whisman, on Sep 15, 2009

It has been like this for several weeks at least. It's not just me is it? I start smelling it when I drive home from work on 101 and I can smell it even when I am sitting in my house. What the hell is causing this?

This is what my local friends call Bay Drift. It's not pretty.

No, I am smelling it too (and just asked the same question). I've lived here a number of years and can't recall this smell being as strong and constant as these past weeks. Wonder what the big picture answer is?

Now in late July 2010 every evening the smell of garbage hangs in the air and becomes worse as the breeze dies down. Then around 3:00 AM it is so offenssive,
I have to close all the windows. It smells like an open dumpster full of ripe garbage.

I've driven thru the neighborhood and it's thru out the area.

Where is this coming from ???
