I get why you're moving and consolidating, but it's sad that the local paper won't have a local office.

The cost savings probably make a lot of financial sense to have you guys share an office with your sister papers, but it is very sad that Mountain View's only paper will no longer have an office....in Mountain View.

There's something invaluable about being only a block off of Castro Street and so close to the places where the news your reporting on is being made. It makes me wonder if this is some kind of first step towards combining the three papers into something akin to the old Peninsula Times Tribune.

All the best, I hope despite leaving Mountain View, you won't skip a beat when it comes to keeping tabs on the pulse of the city. The Voice is an amazing resource that Mountain View is lucky to have.

Maybe you guys can learn some lessons from Palo Alto and actually get accurate stories online and take less than a week to do it. Also, try updating the site once in awhile instead of leaving the same stories on the front page unchanged for weeks at a time.

Lance, You are right on with your comment. I agree with you 100%. I am surprised someone else feels the same as I do.

Don Frances spends more time removing legitimate comments and attempts to control "freedom of speech" of the Mountain View residents that read the Voice. Maybe Don Frances should go work for the Palo Alto Daily News and leave his position open for a Mountain View resident. Apparently he doesn't even know what business is in Mountain View, Palo Alto or Los Altos. He is a disgrace to Mountain View.

I expect this post to be removed by Don Frances. That is what he gets paid for. Oh, also is the Voice closed on the weekends? I noticed the news is stagnant and boring until the week begins. "The Voice" certainly doesn't match our High Tech city we live in.

You know, many natives of Palo Alto and Mountain View say Mountain View is turning into Palo Alto more and more every day. I guess this clinches it.

Believe it or not the censor at Palo Alto Online is even more heavy handed than here on the Voice page. I do think it could be a good thing for the MV Voice site though. Palo Alto Online refreshes their stories daily, while the MV Voice site will have a headline up for well over a week. Often I'll see or hear things going on in MV and I'll wait for a story on it here, but no story appears. Anyone hear the explosion the other night at 3am? It was VERY loud. Any word on the guy who got hit on his bike by a car at El Camino and Calderon last month? Nope. I like the idea of local news online, I just want to see more of it and less fluff.

Well, since your office won't be local anymore, perhaps you'll actually be more tuned in to all the fine youth programs MV has to offer. In particular, Peninsula Youth Theatre. Most of their shows are performed at the Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Mountain View, and they are spectacular. Just this past summer they performed "Les Miserables" with a cast of solely 12 - 18 yr. olds; it was phenomenal! Every production is double cast, and everyone who auditions is cast, so they are offering good, clean fun for quite a few kids. Why doesn't the Voice ever promote this local organization? I think they'd be happy to have you come to a dress rehearsal to write a review for an article. Some productions are more stellar than others, but I think folks would be surprised at how professionally these shows are done. (I'll get off my soap box now; thanks for reading!)

What we need is an independent Mountain View Newspaper not a subset of Palo Alto, maybe someone should start a daily Mountain View Blog in which anyone can contribute.
