"The Best of Mountain View 2009"???????????
Why would the Voice include Watercourse Way under "Massage".
They are in Palo Alto.
and Linden Tree under A Place to buy Children's gifts.
They are in Los Altos.
It should be Mountain View only.

I agree, parent, Mountain View is such a great place and this paper has to always drag in outside cities. They also did the same thing by printing Los Altos high school grads last year and leaving out
Mtn. View. The paper should be called the Los Alto Voice if they can't
find anything more to print about Mtn. View and yes i know, they were choosen but don't print it as the Best of Mountain View, it's an insult
to.

I hope everyone is fully aware that Clark's puts bread in their ground burger. Ask them, its true. Wheat allergic people cannot eat Clark's meat because of this...its not 100% pure beef, even at those prices.

What bluegrass at Dana St? Did I miss something?

Dana Street used to get far more Bluegrass bands in past years, but now it's down to about 3 or 4 a year -- excluding the super-talented Houston/Jones, whose Americana style certainly employed Bluegrass elements. However, just two weeks ago, we featured an outstanding jug band (The Amazing Dr. Zarcon's Breathing Machine) and will be hosting another Bluegrass band, "Kitchen Help" on Saturday, October 17th. Hope to see you there!

First of all, Best of MOUNTAIN VIEW should include only Moutnain View Busineses....so how does Watercourse Way of PALO ALTO rate as best massage in MOUNTAINT VIEW??? Seoncdly, agree with other comments that MV Voice is too often promoting Palo Alto, Los Altos etc. Finally saying East West Bookstore is best yoga 'Studio' is a joke, it is a retail store that offers yoga classes. I am sure the EW teacher is wonderful but no comparison to studio like the one next to Wells Fargo which offers a wide variety of classes at all levels. Many of the 'winners' are often the result of ballot box stuffing campaigns by the business owners, some are legit winners, others not so much.

How pathetic!!!!!Looks like NO ONE PROOFREAD. Pretty unprofessional.
The Voice needs to correct their error instead of ignoring it. Hey I know they proof all of the comments and I find it interesting they don't acknowledge their embarrassing mistake of including Watercourse Way and Linden Tree in the Best of Mountain View.
Mountain View deserves better!!!

Why is that Hobbee's wins for best breakfast year after year? I agree their food is consistently good.
The Country Gourmet of Mountain View is a favorite of mine. Superior quality over Hobbee's.
Maybe they should add a catergory Best Non Chain Restaurant.
Just a suggestion!

Wasn't a mistake. The Best Of allows for winners located outside Mountain View's borders, so long as they're close enough that lots of Mountain View residents use them. Chef Chu's is a good example.

Don: Fair enough. That this point was not made clear in either the survey or the published results, though -- despite requests to do so -- is reflected in all the comments now questioning out-of-MV businesses that won "best of MV," whereas in the past they were expicitly excluded, and attempts to vote for restaurants outside MV but "close enough that lots of MV residents use them" were expressly rejected.

Don:
Linden Tree Books and Watercourse Way are not on the border. They are in the heart of Los Altos and Palo Alto. Try again. May I suggest you educate yourself on this area, especially Mountain View.
Best of Mountain View shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Either the Business is in Mountain View or it is not in Mountain View. How can you include "Borders"? Where do you draw the line? Keep it simple and fair.

I never said they were on the border. To repeat: The Best Of allows for winners located outside Mountain View's borders, so long as they're close enough that lots of Mountain View residents use them. Apparently, lots of Mountain View residents use Linden's and Watercourse Way, since a majority chose them as their favorites.
"May I suggest you educate yourself on this area, especially Mountain View." I'll never understand why some people think their anonymity is an excuse for discourtesy.

Don,
WHO MAKES THE RULES?
YOU are allowing voters to vote for business's outside of Mountain View because "they are on the border"????
Don . . . . .
Either the Business is in Mountain View or it is not in Mountain View.
Don . . . . .
Discourtesy: is allowing Palo Alto and Los Altos into a "Mountain View" contest. Don't try to twist this back to me.

I love it when the "Best of Mountain View" comes out every year. I like to compare the places that I write about (www.ILoveMV.org) to the places that the community has voted on. I usually end up writing about places that aren't as well known as the places that get the most votes.

Best of MV should be for MV businesses only. If the Voice "must" or feels it "necessary" to include non-MV businesses, then I'd like to suggest a "sub-category" titled "Best surrounding MV".
I can tell you that my visiting friends noticed and asked why an establishment was voted best in MV when it wasn't even in MV... makes no sense.

Don is always right folks. Don't argue, or you'll get a lecture about his many dilemmas of being a "journalist".

Well, this time at least, Don IS right, obviously. Posting what most people consider snide cheap shots while hiding behind false names ("May I suggest you educate yourself," "Don is always right folks"), and persistently mis-reading earlier text (' because "they are on the border" ') clouds whatever real argument these people have.
Which is unfortunate, because there IS a conflict between survey's title "Best of MV" and its reality, and obviously people are noticing that.

These comments are hilarious! You are blaming the voice for printing what people, Voice readers voted for? Is it really that bothersome that someone voted for a business in Palo Alto? Really, go ask your doctor for Xanax if it bothers you so much.
Thanks for providing me with entertainment on an otherwise boring evening.
