if los altos is so concerned with bike pedestrian safety, they need to think about embracing the crazy concept of sidewalks, at least around school areas and major attached streets.

i have a child that attends miramonte elementary and i would love to allow him to ride his bike to school, but im very reluctant because of the lack of safe riding area.

I was very disappointed when the Pumpkin Patch was handed over to developers 100%. This is what we all get now. It would have been nice if the Los Altos neighbors had thought of stepping up and advocating for some open space at that time, and preserving some of this area as farmland, which would have mitigated traffic and over-development. Now it's honestly too late and we need to just let the process continue. Perhaps all of you dissatisfied locals can just vote out the council members who allowed this to happen in the next election.

dolaemon - bikes do not belong on the sidewalk, it is against the law and a great way to ensure kids end up getting hit by cars when they come off of the sidewalk where vehicle traffic will not see them in time (most drivers expect something slow like a pedestrian that you can easily spot before the move on). I sure as h*ll hope you don't let your child ride their bike to school because you clearly can't teach them the rules of the road for bikes.
