I for one will stop shopping at Target. This is truly shameful considering how easy the County of Santa Clara makes it for all of us to more responsibly dispose of hazardous materials. Just another example of a huge conglomerate not paying their fair share of the cost of doing business...

I know the company is ultimately responsible, but if you have lazy employees that just don't want to bother doing things properly.......

What they need to do is come up with a better tracking system so that every container is accounted for, either received, sold, or put in a container to be disposed of properly. If they make the employees accountable, I think the results will be better.

I wonder how many other retail establishments are having the same problem?

If Target is illegally dumping hazardous waste that's bad. They probably felt it was "not convenient" to comply with the environmental laws; just as a manager at one Target store said it was "not convenient" for the store to stop making a lot of noise at night, although they are located right next to several residences.

Looks being a good neighbor isn't a big priority to them.

Cutting corners by dumping hazardous chemicals in landfills, and causing sleep deprivation to their neighbors, is not going to help anyone become more healthy!

Maybe they weren't able to fix it because they just didn't want to. Maybe the people responsible were getting kudos from their superiors for saving the company money (though not necessarily in the long run) with these violations.
