Now thats just great. For those who live in the South County and actually use CalTrain to commute north, I guess going green and reducing that nasty CO2 isn't so important anymore.

Good point, Dennis. The costs of allowing global warming to continue: storms, drought, wildfires, famine and disease in parts of the world, and the resulting threats to peace. And let's admit it, if transit costs too much and runs too infrequently, most of us don't use it - yes, that includes me.

If you, like me, do not agree with their planned cuts, please make sure to email or show up to the meetings so that your voice is heard! If we all forget or figure that someone else will speak up and no one does, nothing good will come of it.

It seems to me Caltrains is moving in the wrong direction. They should be trying to increase ridership, not shooing away passengers. Also, how is one who doesn't have a car suppose to get to and from the meeting locations from the train station at that time of night? Has anyone seen VTA's announcement that they expect an increase in revenues later this fall?

Regarding Curious Observer's post above about the accessibility of meeting locations without a car, both locations are directly on rail lines. VTA's administrative offices are right at the VTA River Oaks light rail station, and the Mountain View-Winchester line runs every 15 minutes to that location until 7PM, and every 30 minutes until midnight; the light rail line connects directly to the Caltrain line.

Caltrain's headquarters in San Carlos are just a few blocks from the Sab Carlos Caltrain station, whch is served by trains every 30-60 minutes until about 8PM and every hour until midnight. There is also frequent bus service along El Camino just 2 blocks from there.
