"...neighbor grumbling about increased pedestrian traffic.."
GEEEZ.... that's total nonsense....the construction crew hasn't even left yet!
There's a new generation of intelligent adult Waverly Park residents now, with young kids and optimistic hopes for their futures and our neighborhood. We WANT the trail!
As opposed to what has happened here in the past, we don't believe in trying to create mass neighborhood hysteria based on personal unfounded fears. Another old trail opposing neighbor of mine just this week told my new neighbor some baseless false facts of dangers related to the trail. Tsk Tsk... get your facts, and get them straight before trying to convert a new neighbor to a NIMBY!
The High School kids are driving 40 MPH through Waverly Park 3 times a day,(saw it on one of the active speed signs today), and the same old fear mongers are still only voicing their false and made up fears in opposition to the trail... I just don't get it. This WONDERFUL trail is for future generations. I'd be ashamed of being so selfish, self centered, and narrow minded, to NOT consider what's best for my neigbors, neighborhood, and surrounding community. We almost didn't get the trail AT ALL thanks to a handful of hard headed residents. They fought tooth and nail. They'll never understand what a benefit this is to all of us. Kudos to the city for handling them with kid gloves for so many years, and ultimately prevailing.
