I would much rather see vertical curbs if only to discourage the trailer-trash neighbors and their friends that park on their lawns and block sidewalks.

Before throwing out the baby with the bathwater (which would then never be recovered), it would be wise to first try something which virtually everyone wants tried (well, all but one guy that is).

Since the city has never made one effort to inform the people of the laws regarding how to lawfully parallel park at rolled curbs, it's no surprise that so many people violate the laws they are not even aware of. So, making an effort to notify people of the laws should be tried first.

It's vastly cheaper and easier to send out a notice of the laws than any other method to address the illegal parking issues.

Only one person objected to letting the people know the laws. All he wanted was to flood the neighborhood with cops writing tickets for every possible violation they could come up with and to out-law owning more than 2 cars per house. But then that guy also refered to Rex Manor as a quote: "low-income slum" which has "gone to hell because of all the minorities and foreigners who have moved into the neighborhood". So, I don't think his opinions are very common in the neighborhood.

Keeping the public ignorant by design is no solution to anything.

And I can't recall seeing anyone living in any trailers in the Rex Manor neighborhood, so I am hard-pressed to understand that characterisation either.

If many people really are living in trailers around here, that sounds like another type of violation and perhaps those people also need to be informed about the laws, if it is really a serious enough problem to bother with that is. But I doubt that it is.

We love our Rex Manor neighborhood, and are relieved that the "kid friendly / bike friendly / stroller friendly " rolled curbs will remain. We've lived here for close to 9 years, and love the diversity that our neighborhood brings with it. That is why we bought here. Trailer trash? What a sad and ignorant statement.

I live in Rex Manor and there are people living in trailers there. Look for 5th wheel units hooked up to electrical drops. Usually seen adjacent to several cars that haven't moved since the Nixon Administration.

Why would we be spending money on this? I don't see anything wrong with the curbs in that area. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, especially when the city is crying it doesn't have money.

If you mean the project to reconstruct the streets in Rex Manor, including replacement of the curbs & sidewalks, then the bulk of the money actually came from state city improvement grants, ie, it wont be costing us from our city taxes. And if the money is not spent on qualified projects, then we lose the money.

And the streets over here do really need reconstructing, we have been putting on band-aids on the streets for decades.

The project has been in the works for years, we just didn't know al the details util just recently.
