that explains why one of the guy stole all my quarters while wiping inside the car, few years back. i stopped going there since then. i definitely pity the workers who are being exploited under any circumstances. people who wash their cars should tip these workers very generously so that they don't steal from others cars. i hope the mgmt is not taking their tips. you never know these days. this is a cruel world.

I always tip and they still stole a personal item out of my car that wasn't even worth much at all. I stopped going for a while but went back because of the convenient location. I guess it's back to the brushless carwash in Santa Clara on El Camino for me.

I have never had anything stolen in the many years I have been going there. I think it's disgusting how the company has treated these workers. The job those workers do is monotnous and physically taxing and for only minimum wage plus tips which I'm sure is not very much more. I'm happy to hear the goverment has been alerted to the company's illegal activities and that the workers will get what they deserve.

It's always great to hear comments of sympathy from the lazy BMW, MB, and Lexus drivers who feel it is too below them to wash their own cars and would much rather have some exploited illegal alien do it for them. Nothing in this article should surprise anyone, since employers who hire illegals do so to cheat both the workers and the government.

No one said they were illegal. Besides, it is unlikely that illegals would contact the government to complain.

Alot of people have documentation that is counterfeit, but the employers accept it because their defense would be "it looked legal". They know damn well what they are doing. For now, the Feds have no way to track this 'good faith' paperwork thing.

Also, I am certain some of the workers are actually legal.

Given how bold and 'entitled' some of these 'guests' are, I would not put it past one to contact the Feds. After all, they use the Emergency Rooms, Police services, and every other resource possible, because they can, and we are too PC to say or do anything about it.
That's just how it is...

harv's is great but Lozano'a offers a far superior service. I am still amazed at how so few people tip. I always tip if i use a coupon and i always get great service.

The problem with tipping at car washes is, you dont really know if they did a good job until later. I tend to tip based on the previous trip.

Notice how their prices went up. I brought a coupon the other day and the lady told me in a rude manner that it was expired. I've never been told that there before. She said flatly, "Your price is $14". I guess we the customers will be paying for Lazano's shady business practices. Sweet deal!

E-Verify can tell any employer who cares whether or not a potential employee is a citizen. Lozano's should be shut down. A simple boycott could do it.

Has anyone ever put 2 and 2 together, ever since Mountain View declared it’s a sanctuary city crime has gone up, schools have become overcrowded and are overwhelmed also people in M.V. are generally not as friendly. Johnny Robots has a good point require ALL employers to use E-verify.

When did Mtn. View declare themselves a sanctuary city? Was there a public announcement of this?

And could you give some examples of crimes in Mtn. View that were committed by illegals? Just trying to keep you honest.

They should be fined an additional $268,000. Where's the incentive to obey minimum wage laws if all that happens is they have to give them back pay?

As for sanctuary cities, the federal gov't should withhold funding to localities that don't check the immigration status of arrestees.

Lozano's IS a Mountain View car wash. It is a common misconception that it is in PA.
By the way, most rich people have made their money off of other people's backs. It's nothing new, and it's the American way...

The Feds only get them back pay up to Fed. minimum wage $6.55. The state min. wage is $8.00, so they are entitled to that too. Plus if their going wage is higher, I think their is an implied contract to pay them that too.

Any lawyers out there willing to file a class action suit on their behalf (pro bono?) to recover everything they are owed plus punitive damages?

Hopefully they can recover enough back pay to tide themselves over to find other jobs and not fear retaliation.

The Voice reported, M.V. Chief of Police Scott Vermeer, who is a son of an undocumented Mexican immigrant, said his police department has "no role enforcing federal immigration laws”, that is a de facto claim of being a sanctuary city. As for M.V. School superintendents Maurice Ghysels and Barry Groves, they may not be M.V. city employees but their salaries are paid by my tax dollars which makes them representatives of my government and of M.V. Ghysels and Groves publicly announced supporting illegals. Their actions and advice perpetuates a de facto claim that M.V. is a sanctuary city.

Bruno you asked for examples of illegals breaking laws, the following are some examples and/or clarifications: 1) first and foremost they’re in this country ILLEGALY; 2) the uptick of violence committed by Surenos gang members who are new Latino immigrants and most likely entered illegally into the U.S; 3) if the top cop in M.V. isn’t requiring his P.D. to document crimes committed by illegals, how do you get examples?.

Furthermore if people who support illegal/undocumented immigrants from all over the world (Asia, Africa, Mexico, Latin & South America, Europe, India, Canada, etc.) continue to turn a blind eye to the realities of illegal immigration within this community and this nation, don’t be surprised if they/you become a victim of crime/s committed by an illegal.

Well I've been a very satified customer for years, Lozanos employees do there job the way it should be. I've never had any problems. I support all the employees, and if it wasn't for the illegals at lozanos who do you think a legal resident or citizen would do the job? the legal ones don't last more than 2 days before they quit. We should all be supporting the employee in trying to get better wages. Because tips don't matter, not everybody gets a tip only the person who dry's your car.

What's with all the Mercedes haters? I happen to have one, which would not have been my first choice, after a triple roll-over totalling of my car on 101. I needed safety, strength, etc., and I loved the car I had (subaru outback - 3rd one) but felt like I needed a big steel cage around me. Not everyone who owns a Mercedes is an ass - in fact, I act deferential to other drivers so as not to be perceived as a jerk. With that said, if I go to the car wash, any car wash, and pay $15 to $20, is it too much to expect the car to be washed and vacuumed? I don't think so, because I'm paying for a service. Again, why all the haters? Should I give one of the washers the car as a tip? Hell, I earn the money to have it, and the safety, why should I feel guilty?
