wow i cant believe something like this would happen at theuerkauf school. i have a daughter that goes there it is a good thing that nothing happened, but it is good that they gave a citation to the kid so that he or anybody else wont ever do something like this because, it is pretty scary.

I am surprised all he got was a citation. Threats are not good, especially when children are involved. The administrators should kick him out of the district.

If this was a 13 year old it would be different. How close to 11 is this kid? The police say "he's just an angry kid". I don't know what to think about this.

The actions of one kid, possibly imitating what he sees in the news, should not be the basis of generalizations about the entire school, the entire district or the entire city of MV.

Yes, I understand "something in the water" is a joke and I often wonder the same thing about bad drivers, people who carry on loud conversations on cell phones, etc.

On the other hand, I would assume that the school district and police are taking ANY and ALL threats seriously and following up on them.

It would be interesting if the Voice could find out what if any criteria there are for suspensions and expulsions. Are there specific guidelines or is it subjective? Are there any state laws or school district policies that require expulsion for certain behaviors?

I would like to thank The Voice for keeping us informed about what is going on in our schools. We might never hear these things otherwise.

Sad story. The kid's surely not a terrorist, just screaming for attention and help, and I hope he gets what he needs before it escalates as he gets older. How can he be so angry at 10? Gotta come from the parents, no?

It really isn't any of our business why the kid is angry, counseling will determine that.

It is wrong to say he is not a terrorist when you don't know what caused him to do this.

His phone calls are that of a terrorist and I take it serious until proven different.

How old were the murderers at Columbine? Only a few years older than this kid. I think this has to be taken very seriously. If someone had in Colorado, the outcome might have been different. The only way a slaughter was prevented at DeAnza was because a hero kid working in a photo shop took his responsibility as a citizen seriously.

I don't think that this kid should be allowed to be back at the school if he was suspended at all. How can parents feel comfortable knowing that there is an unstable kid making threats to the school and anyone in it? I am terrified having a child who attends that school. Something must be done with that kid, before he carries on with the threats.

It is really frightening to know that the same child who attends Theuerkauf with my kids actually pondered and thought out such threats. I mean the kid is only ten years old, not much age age difference from my kids, and wow, my kids would never, at this age even think about doing such a thing! I am shocked because this is way more serious than pretending, he actually thought about how and who to harm! I pray that kid gets the discipline and the phycological help he needs. Thank you Mountain View Voice for continuing to report stories about what happens in our schools, because I would have never known this occured.

what's scary to me is not that he made the threats but why he made them.

No 10 yr old should be charged with a terroristic threat, he needs to be psychologically treated and/or maybe counseled, he needs constant supervision and remove all weapons from his access and put his ass back in school. They need to find out what made him feel that way????? My 18 year old was charged and convicted and sentenced to 1yr probation for misdemeanor TT. The school was supportive and offered him enrollment in their alternative school where he finished school and graduated while serving his probation and community service, he wrote a paper about his experience which won him kudos with school administration! My son went to counseling on his own and has recovered from it all. He is well and doing fine, however he now is unemployable, as most companies now perform background checks as part of their hiring processes, even Walmart, they don't want the liability of hiring a convict. So he's going to college and hopes that in a few years someone will get another chance. Why sentence this 10yr old to that, treat him and help him and keep tabs on him till he is 21 yrs!!

I failed to mention, I still supervise my son and his internet access, and we have no "weapons" in our house he & I talk often about whatever is on his mind. I don't take anything for granted!!! my supervision of him will be ongoing! I failed to "hear" him once and it cost his victim her security and almost cost him his freedom, as in our state a Terroristic Threat is a sentence of 2-10 yrs in prison. Parents, be careful when you say..... "my child would never do that", children do and say things everyday that parents do not know about!!! unless you read every text message sent or received all day long and read their myspace or facebook everyday or listen to every conversation they have everyday all day long,"you don't really know your child". Remember, your child is with other adults and kids (if they are school age) all day long, they are learning things you don't know about......Don't take anything for granted!!!! All you can do is try to be the most powerful influence in their life!!!! God Bless
