Police: Men used bat, car in downtown assault

Original post made on Mar 30, 2009

Sounds like I need to be careful in my neighborhood at night (since I live downtown).

I hope the city can provide more police officers downtown on the weekend nights. Anybody know if they do?

The MVPD are obviously useless. Let's fire them to cut costs.

The MVPD are useless????? Are you serious? Both of these dangerous suspects were arrested right away! The MVPD were patrolling downtown and managed to prevent the suspects from escaping the area. Arrests were made and justice will be served, thanks to the MVPD. Randall Flagg, you should be ashamed of your blatant ignorance. What might have happened had the MVPD not been patrolling downtown and had they not acted so quickly? It's because of their hard work and dedication that these dangerous criminals are now OFF the street. People like you make me absolutely sick.

Being a member of the downtown community for 6 plus years I have the ebb and tide of the downtown area. Our police are staffed well but for the size of our city and to have the whole police force camped on Castro would lead to no coverage anywhere else. Give the guys and gals in blue a break. They work hard and are appreciated for their efforts. If there is anyone to blame (outside of the patrons) it lays on past city councils that allowed the structuring of the downtown district Very few times are the problems of the downtown committed but locals but by visitors. The downtown was never set-up for a nightlife but more for small shops and restuarants. Clubs and bars will always need extra supervision and intoxication will always lead to stupidity. There is no easy solution to our woes but attacking the police force is sheer stupidity - Mr.Flagg needs to apologies.

I'm thinking Randall was making an abortive attempt at sarcasm.

The MVPD got this one all wrong! The so-called victims in this incident were 8 strong, and did over $7000 worth of damage to the truck the other two were in. The San Jose "victims" started the fight over a girl at a club. Maybe the voice ought to do a little more research before naming people in their articles.
