since this guy has so much money, i think every city council member is trying to get on his good side so that they can get favors from him. the least they think about others' concern. i think fellow neighbors should be informed before anything major rework is done. is the city council exercising independence here or are they just going with wahtever happens because he is so outlandishly rich? this cycle continues when another super rich guy moves in here. iam sure the city council would have raised lot of issues if it was an asian or a non-white people.

Sounds to me like Page is working within existing laws and building codes. I guess kanan krishnan thinks special rules and questions should be asked if a person has a bunch of money? You really think its race related? Ridiculous. No laws have been violated, no special "breaks" were given to Page and I guaran-damn-tee that many "asians or non-white people" have demolished existing PA homes and built far bigger on the lots without special questions as long as the codes and laws were followed.

i don't live in that neighborhood but fairness is an issue that anybody has the right to bring out. it is palo alto police chief who publicy suggested racial profiling and stop any black man and interrogate them. it is the same palo alto police that beat a black man who was sitting in his car and settled the case. nearly 5+ years, an asian couple was blocked from rebuilding their house because of the house being a historic one. this particular issue may be legitimate but it still needs to be investigated if the approval process for any remodelling takes the same amount of time for everyone who lives in palo alto. people by nature are biased towards color of the skin and secondly the social status of the person. So I don't have to live in your neighborhood to bring up fairness issue. fairness is a human issue.
