Well ... just go ahead and block my comments about this fine citizen. It will save us all some time.

People accused of such crimes and later exonerated have their lives destroyed. USA, you advocate a 'guilty until lynched' position. If you are that fond of that stance, I suggest you change your handle to USSR. It fits.
If this guy is guilty, he should be punished, and severely so. Not until.

Ruin the life of a 31 year old drugie?
BTW #1: Not guilty is not the same as innocent. With our criminal justice system that is more concerned with protecting the rights of the criminals than their victims, this guy could well walk or get a slap on the wrist. Our course, this little girl will be put through the wringer no matter what
BTW #2: Nice, well-written comment on the Huff issue. However, defending teachers who abuse students verbally and drugies who abuse children sexually kind of puts you on shaky ground.

I didnt defend a teacher-I barely even mentioned her. I defended an administrator and parent that were getting dragged through the mud as part of an irrational conversation. As I said in that thread, if the allegations are accurate, she should go.
I certainly would not defend a molester. I defended the concept of 'innocent until proven guilty'. When referencing other *unrelated* cases, I said 'exonerated' which is different than 'not guilty'. Not referring to this case in any way-- if this guy is guilty, I hope he goes away for a long, long time.
Distorting my positions puts YOU on shakey ground.

As our most prolific right-leaning and left-leaning comment-leavers, you two are starting to build a weird kind of rapport. I'm thinking you could be featured Hannity-and-Colmes style to comment on current events in Mountain View. I'm half serious about this!

Seems like Don Francis is having fun reading these posts!!!!!

Don,
Why do you allow for comments and then remove them? That defeats the purpose. What happened to free speech?

I agree with the parent of another community. We have the right to agree or disagree with the comments. Why is it up to Don Francis to decide what we should not read. This is absurd. I feel Don needs to let the comments roll in and let us decide if we agree or not.

Mrs. T,
If you're a registered user, then you won't have anything to worry about!

Why do people need to register to comment? Don't control the forum and let them comment. It will bring our community together and I think it is interesting to read everyone's view, it keeps us open-minded. We also learn about a lot of secrets that have been covered up over time.

I agree with mom. You have always taken controversial issues on a comment by comment basis. It has only been up for 24 hours and the community wants to speak freely-without registering for whatever reasons. We trust your judgment-why don't you trust ours? Open it back up to all please, with a cherry on top.

Why,
Since you put a cherry on top, I'll take off the "registered-only" requirement soon. The truth is, as I mentioned before, I wanted to slow things down so I could get control of it. I have control of it now.
However, two points: 1) As I said, registered-only is not the same as closing the thread. Registration is fast, easy and available to everyone. 2) Before the end of the day I'll probably turn the registration-only back on, so that inappropriate use of Town Square doesn't occur while the rest of us are enjoying our weekend.

Pedros case has nothing to do with it? Then why is it even mentioned? [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment]

I do understand that it isn't closed. It just doesn't seem like the online voice if we all HAVE to register to stay in the conversation. I also understand that we don't want it to go unmonitored over the entire weekend. I have seen the results of that on previous posts and some people have no tact or decency. Glad the cherry worked. Enjoy your first day of Spring weekend.

Don,
I THINK that your post was meant to be a compliment, but... COLMES?? Dude!
USA, while you are clearly wrong on virtually every issue, I must tip my hat for your excellent sense of humor (too witty to be called Hannity!)
Don't miss out
