Such a shame that so many quality teachers/programs will be cut.
We can't afford to let our school district go down the drain. I understand teachers were asked to take a cut in their salary for next year when they haven't received a decent raise in many years. 1% raise doesn't even meet COLA. Were administrators asked to take a cut too??

Brad, just to clarify, this is Los Altos School District, not Mountain View Whisman. Mountain View Whisman might be in this situation next year, but I don't think they are laying off teachers yet.
Don't forget that teachers get step and column raises every year, whether or not they get COLA. I agree that teachers are never paid enough, but many, many people in professional fields do not get any type of raise every year. Don't know if administrators have cut their salaries at the school district, but another good question to ask is if they have been getting raises over the past several years.

dear Observer,
Yes, I know the article is about LASD and not the MV/Whisman district.
Regardless of the step and column "raises", teachers don't get paid enough. We (society) need to give more to them.
