COMING UP: Council vote on bag fee

A major change in habits for the average consumer is in the works on the county level, and the Mountain View City Council is expected to vote on it this Tuesday.

Just finished reading the ordinance. What a joke. Single use bags are destroying the environment, so lets tax only the bags at large grocery stores and leave every other retailer alone. Like SF this ordinance will lead to more fee avoidance and more consumption of single use bags. SF allegedly banned bags but exempted every small business. This is another feel good ordinance that will not have the desired impact to reduce plastic use.
