Yet another tragedy on the Caltrain tracks. Why isn't anything being done to secure these tracks from pedestrians? How many more people have to die for someone to take this seriously? My deepest sympathy to the victim's loved ones.

Allison was a friend of mine and no all I have are memories. Something needs to be done about the train tracks! What the hell more needs to happen before Caltrain does something?!?!

It's sad that she's gone, but condemning Caltrain for failing to provide us pedestrian-proof tracks is irrational.

They're train tracks. They're equipped with signs, alarms, lights and physical barriers at every cross street, and they are static. People and how they would perceive and process any combination of these are dynamic; maybe any one of these people had a hearing problem, or couldn't see, or were listening to their iPods, or wanted to die, or simply weren't paying attention.

It's Caltrain's job to provide signs, alarms, lights and physical barriers, not to make their train tracks everywhere people-proof.

It's our job to make sure we're only crossing at those points which provide us information about the tracks and/or use the various systems Caltrain has developed to tell us when/if a train is coming, not to scream and yell about Caltrain needing to make their tracks people-proof.
