Worker Center submits plans for new building

Original post made on Nov 16, 2008

The Day Worker Center of Mountain View has submitted plans to the city for a remodel of its new headquarters at 113 Escuela Ave., an abandoned cinderblock building that the center snapped up for $300,000 earlier this year.

The day worker center is very strongly opposed by literally everyone I know. No one wants it here.

And they planted that tree too close to the sidewalk, in a few years it will cause all sorts of problems for us to repair the damage they caused and increase our property taxes.

Is this center for everyone, or just immigrants?

Is this a joke? No property owners want it, the area's is zoned for residential so the city will have to make an exception, no one wants free labor (which no doubt exploits some one down the line), and it primarily serves the illegal immigrant population which is draining our state and city of revenue while ruining our system of public education.

I'd like to set up a coffeeshop out of my garage in old Mountain View, in a residential zone. I'm going to ask the city for an exception. I'm going to offer a free cup of coffee to anyone who might oppose it. My employees will all be illegal and I ain't going to pay them squat. Oh, and I'll be seeking donations for my project.

This will be a place for undocumented immigrants, only.

The last comment is false. While most of the day workers are immigrants of unknown legal status, some were definitely born here. There are even some white folks or "anglos" as director Maria Marroquin calls them.

I throw out all manure, "EFMohammedMartinez," including yours. You don't hear all the whining from the other guys -- many of them militant race-baiters just like you -- but I get it from them too.
