I would like to respond to the comment referring to firefighters and police officers as "those people". "Those peple" are the very people you are going to call when you can't handle what the world can dish out. "Those people" are the ones who would go into your burning house to save you even though they dont know you. They would die trying to save you.

"Those people" are the ones that would fight the guy trying to break into your house in the middle of the night or the guy trying to harm your family. they too would die trying to save you and your family even though they dont know you.

So as for the housing if it means more of "those people" living in our community then I am all for it. I think it will make us all safer.

As for the remark about the pension, many of them will not collect it for long, and many never get to collect it because there life expectancy has been greatly shortened by the stress of trying to keep you safe so you can sit in the comfort and safety of you home and type absurd comments about "those people".

Taxpayer -- That is a good suggestion. The purpose of the city funding is not to enrich the firefighters and police officers but to enable them to afford to live in the city they protect.

City city could go in as equity partners where the city would pay X percent of the cost and get an X percent share of ownership. The officer could then live in the house and pay only 100-X percent of the cost. When an officer leaves the city's employment, he or she could buy out the city' share or sell the house on the open market. The city would then take its share of the profit or loss on the sale.

The advantage of this investment approach is that it meets the goals and does it without throwing away taxpayer money.

Yes because thats there job , who is the first person I call when my car breaks down and I can't handle it ? , a mechanic because thats what he gets paid for. Please ,.. 92k to start , TO START ! cant buy a house on that salary ?
