What neighborhoods are good for trick-or-treating?

Original post made by alp, another community, on Oct 18, 2008

I'd love to get a sense of the liveliest places to take my kids trick-or-treating on Halloween night. Our street is pretty quiet, it's a dead end, mostly older residents so not much Halloween traffic. Any suggestions?

The Mercy-Bush neighborhood near downtown is usually pretty lively for trick-or-treating. We have some friends who live on View St and they took us around their area last year. There were a lot of decorated homes on Loreto, Velarde, and Bush Streets. I haven't been by there yet this year to see how many homes are decorated.

Our area around Devonshire Park and Murlagan Ave is usually pretty lively since there are a number of families in the area with school age children.

Have fun and be safe out there!

Where is that phenomenal haunted house in Mountain View? I heard about it last year but was never got there in time.

It looks like the DC Cemetery will be open again this year at 840 Bush Street, between Yosemite and Fairmont. They even have "kid friendly" hours on certain days.

the liveliest place to take the kids trick or treating is on montecito st, burgoyne st, and farley st, because they fix up homes and there is alot of kids around the area i live on central and there is hardly any kids that live around here. so my husband and i take them over on that side because it is more funnier. happy halloween and have a safe halloween have fun and get plenty of candys

I hear that THE place to go is the Willow Glen neighborhood in San Jose.

How about your own neighborhood? That's what makes a neighborhood.

Things are pretty lively in Monta Loma, thanks in particular to the local e-list that compiles a list of homes friendly to the very young set who will be going around about 5 or 5:30ish. But we get a lot of other action too, largely from neighborhood families. Thompson is pretty good, but so is Adele/Lida/Palmer.
