Anyway, if Palo Alto can be so snooty about their parks, then I was wondering if Mountain View gives the same treatment to non-residents visiting Shoreline. Seems like we should. Not very neighborly though, is it?

One of the bones of contention in PA I am afraid. Many residents want to keep it to themselves due to not over-crowding reasons and possibly angst with Stanford.
But historically, when the Park was first purchased/opened way back when, Palo Alto asked the neighboring cities for help with the costs. They declined so Palo Alto opened it for PA residents only.

Surrounding cities didnt help with Shoreline costs, either (in fact, because of the asinine taxation plan for the whole North Bayshore region, our city and schools suffer quite a bit thanks to Shoreline). Public roads lead to Foothill, and fire protection is provided regionally. That old arguement doesnt wash with me, I'm afraid.

No, our parks are open to all. We're not as snooty as PA :)

Actually, all non-residents caught trespassing on Mt. View property will be spanked severely.

I always thought that Shoreline should be open to everyone *but* Palo Altans because of their snobby "enivornmental" Foothill Park policy.
Of course, it'd mean setting up some kind of border patrol at Charleston Slough to keep them out....

PA always discriminated against immigration and low income people. They welcomed only rich, former AAA students, etc. to come to Foothill Park from inside of PA as well as Stanford campus. They don't visited MV Shoreline Park unless when coming nearby Dreadful Dead Band (from PA again). Even PA are liberal there but inside they are almost deep conservative. Remember PA required to have almost low density very expensive homes at former part of MayField Mall while Toll Brothers planning to build very high density median/medium priced condos/townhomes on MV side.
