Crunch time at Moffett

NASA Ames was nearly shut down two years ago, but is now poised for major growth, according to a presentation made last month by Director Pete Worden to NASA Ames employees.

Given the visissitudes of NASA and Army planning mentioned in the article, the neighboring communities must be ever-vigilent regarding excessive use of Moffett airfield. Limited use by the current Army reserve tenants is acceptable at current levels. We will not accept unsafe major air operations in an already congested airspace, with traffic related to San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland airports. Also, neighboring communities should not have to tolerate the nuisances of increased air operations just because NASA has a budget issue or because private/commercial users pretend to do "science."
