I sure missed Menu Tree ($1.50 Tuesday night specials), Liberty House or Rhodes, JC Penneys (Mayfield Mall), SA hobby shop, Large Radio Shack, Gemco (much better than Wal-Mart), Rhodes Way, Bazaar in 1966 (both were same site at present Target), Best Products and a large discount bookstore. Wal-Mart (like planned Home Depot)has spoiled SA Center. Only Trader Joe's did not harmed SA Center, it fitted well within. Plus I missed good old fashioned hot dogs stand next to Sears building.

Its good that Home Depot won't be there. I got a weird phone call a couple months ago, some pollster guy asked me questions about Home Depot moving there for almost an hour. He asked all kinds of questions about how I felt and made me answer in these canned phrases like "sometimes agree", "always agree", etc. If I answered any other way he would make me use his phrase before he would continue. He asked how I felt about the trader joes there, I said they were cool but that I didn't want home depot there. He proposed a theater or other retailers, small stores, a bunch of other options.

Maybe where the sears store is now would be a good place for a theater.

It would be nice if they would put a muffler on the lot sweeper that runs in the middle of the night.

The sweeper emits a very high shriek that is loud to anyone who does not have upper range hearing damage.

Sweepers don't have to be noisy - the city's street sweeper is much quieter.

(Or here's an idea: don't operate ANY noisy machinery in the middle of the night!! - including leaf blowers and chain saws!!))

I remember Crown Books. It would be nice to have a big bookstore there again. Maybe a Barnes & Noble with a coffee house.
