Less government is better government. Let the people decide.

I think a community garden is a wonderful venture that helps an entire community by utilizing green space to provide food and beauty to the environment. If there is a three year waiting list to get into a garden spot perhaps the city should work diligently to find more spots for gardens. Perhaps tear down a seedy development or two. In the meantime leave the gardeners alone even if it does mean a runaway pickle plant flinging one of its tendrils in someone else's spot. I have enjoyed the fruits of that community garden when I have visited your area. Please use this opportunity to go green and do it up right for the planet.

A working garden is not a clipped formal garden of even rows and perfect plants. Willowgate is a working garden where one can see all the effort and care gardeners lavish on their plot of land. It is a true reflection of community and of "green' organic lifestyle.

The City of Mountain View needs to rein in Parks and Recreation staff from their persistent attacks on Willowgate. It is my belief Parks and Recreation could care less about the rights of taxpaying gardeners. If this department is unable to do it's job then let another more user friendly department take over.

The real story here is a 120-person waiting list and a City Council without the wisdom and courage to fill that demand. Community gardens bring crime & vandalism? What PLANET are they on, and why oh WHY would the council take that seriously???

Does anyone know whether there are other community gardens in the works? I just visited the Willowgate Community Garden for the first time today and after reading that there is a three-year waiting period to get a plot, I feel pretty let down that I may never be able to have a plot of my own.
