School districts see budget storm coming

Local school officials say they are hoping for the best and planning for the worst as they assess what could happen if the state slashes the education budget as promised by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This sounds like the distict is laying the foundation to argue for another tax hike. I say no way! First clean up house, particularly that issue from last year regarding retirement fraud from the outgoing superintendant. Second, pay the teachers more and big wigs less. How about a FOIA request like they did in Palo Alto several years ago, Don? Let's really see where all the money is really going. The governor's budget isn't even out yet... let's focus on our own mess before we take on the state's. Throwing more good money after bad is just a bad idea. Let's get people riled up so the board will reflect more the democratic process with contested seats rather than getting come-as-you-are board members.
