"the church, at the corner of Hope and Mercy streets"
Wow! The street names sure suggest that it is the right location.

I think that the Day Labor Center should move to Los Altos or Palo Alto. Everyone is so quick to say "not in my backyard", yet they are the ones looking for cheap labor to clean their gardens. And for those yelling about their property values going down, welcome to the neighborhood! We've been dealing with the day labor center on our side of town, plus low scoring elementary schools, liquor stores, etc, etc, so deal with it. The real question that no one wants to ask is what is going to happen in the long term for the city of Mountain View? You may think that Castro street is a dividing line between the good and bad parts of town, but pretty soon there will be no dividing line. My husband and I work very hard to be homeowners in Mountain View, and yet, I cannot safely walk down California Street.
And seriously, those people get paid $10/hr and the money goes directly into their pocket, so if the question is asked whether or not those workers are paying taxes, no they are not. But, yes they do pay for sales tax, like everyone else who makes a purchase.
