Gail Robbins Schwettman
Jan. 13, 1936-Oct. 8, 2025
Palo Alto, California

Gail Robbins Schwettman, an adored mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died on October 8, 2025.

Gail was born on January 13, 1936 in the Cincinnati, Ohio area to William and Gertrude Robbins. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education and went on to teach at the grade school level before having three children: Alison, Jeanne and John. She spent the majority of her adult years in the Stanford/Palo Alto area where she lovingly raised her family. But her heart extended beyond the home to her community, and she was active over the span of many years in various women’s groups, school activities, and singing (classical, choir and musical theater).

In all the things that Gail enjoyed over the years, to include her work, volunteer activities and many hobbies, being with family and friends took center stage. She always had time to stop, talk, listen and ask countless questions, spend hours on end playing whatever games her grandchildren wanted to play, and would work for days on a bright, cheery and personal homemade card. She routinely took an interest in what mattered to others and encourage them in their interests and endeavors. Gail’s creative, curious and lively spirit touched countless lives over the years.

Gail is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (John) Falkenstein; and her son, John Schwettman. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alison Schwettman. Her legacy lives on through her 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who will forever remember how much she loved them.
