David Lawrence (Larry) Gershon, 77. Passed away on March 19th, 2025 in Palo Alto, California. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Navy veteran. Larry lived a life marked by service, love for family, and a deep commitment to supporting others.

Born on December 6, 1947 in Stillwater Oklahoma, Larry was the son of Morris and Maurice Gershon. He attended Stillwater High School, and Menlo College before graduating from the University of Colorado in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree. His education laid the foundation for a life of purpose and dedication.

Larry proudly served his country as a naval flight officer. His career in the United States Navy culminated in his retirement with the rank of Captain. Flying for the Navy was a passion that he later shared with his grandson Lincoln. The two bonded over their mutual fascination with aviation, often tracking flights around the globe together-a cherished pastime that reflected Larry’s enduring curiosity and love for connection.

Family and friends were always at the heart of Larry’s life. He is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Thayer, his son Jamie and daughter-in-law Megan, his daughter Emily and son-in-law Matt and his beloved grandson Lincoln. Larry’s devotion to his family was unwavering-he was caring, unselfish, loving and supportive. He prioritized time with his loved ones above all else and created cherished memories through many adventures in Maui that brought joy to all who joined him.

After being diagnosed with lung cancer, Larry turned adversity into advocacy. He became deeply involved with the Go2 foundation for Lung Cancer, dedicating himself to supporting others facing similar diagnosis. His strength and compassion inspired many within the community as he worked tirelessly to raise awareness and hope.

Larry will be remembered for his steadfast love of family and friends, his military service and courageous advocacy. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness and resilience.
