About this blog: About this blog: I am a LMFT specializing in couples counseling and grief and have lived in Silicon Valley since 1969. I'm the president of Connect2 Marriage Counseling. I worked in high-tech at Apple, Stanford University, and in Silicon Valley for 15 years before becoming a therapist. My background in high-tech is helpful in understanding local couples' dynamics and the pressures of living here. I am a wife, mom, sister, friend, author, and lifelong advocate for causes I believe in (such as marriage equality). My parents are both deceased. My son graduated culinary school and is heading toward a degree in Sociology. I enjoy reading, hiking, water fitness, movies, 49ers and Stanford football, Giants baseball, and riding a tandem bike with my husband. I love the beach and mountains; nature is my place of restoration. In my work with couples, and in this blog, I combine knowledge from many fields to bring you my best ideas, tips, tools and skills, plus book and movie reviews, and musings to help you be your genuine self, find your own voice, and have a happy and healthy relationship. Don't be surprised to hear about brain research and business skills, self-soothing techniques from all walks of life, suggestions and experiments, and anything that lights my passion for couples. Dear Readers,
Have you ever wished that marriage came with an illustrated manual? Well, now it does!
I’ve been telling you about
I Do I Don’t: How to build a better marriage for about three and a half years now. I thought you might like to actually see it—being a graphic novel and all. My two publishers, Embarcadero Media and Soaring Penguin Press, said “Yes!” when I floated the idea of posting my entire book, one page per weekday. Just like a daily comic.
Except, instead of “funnies”, it doubles as a story about a struggling young couple in therapy and a thoroughly researched book. You will learn and practice alongside Ben and Grace.
I Do I Don’t will teach you specific tools, techniques, and principles from neuroscience, attachment theory and other therapeutic methods.
Please go to my website to obtain the
free Companion workbook and Reader discussion guide (you’ll each need your own copy).
I Do I Don't is my offering of hope and science to as many people as possible to make all of your relationships better and healthier.
Soaring Penguin's purchase-based crowdfundr has ended, While you’re in a supportive mood, please make a
contribution to Embarcadero Media who is becoming a nonprofit 501(c)3 on January 1st.
Below is the book’s front matter. Next time I’ll post the Introduction and how to use the book, along with the foreword by
. . .For Dummies founder/CEO, John Kilcullen.
I’m so excited to share
I Do I Don’t with you. Please recommend it to your family, friends, co-workers, and fellow volunteers.
Here’s to building a better relationship!
