Celebrity chef and philanthropist José Andrés' restaurant group is bringing a new restaurant to Palo Alto sometime in 2023 or 2024, according to a recent announcement.
"Our goal is to inspire and delight both local and destination-driven guests looking for something new," Sam Bakhshandehpour, president of José Andrés Group, said in a press release.
Andrés' restaurant group, based in Washington, D.C., is planning to open three new restaurants in 2023 and 2024, one at Palo Alto's Stanford Shopping Center and two in Las Vegas, according to the statement.
This is the restaurateur's first foray into the Northern California dining scene, but not to California as a whole – he currently has five restaurants in Los Angeles. In 2021, he participated in Peninsula Open Space Trust's Wallace Stegner lecture series in a conversation with Flea Street’s Jesse Cool.
Andrés also founded World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit that serves meals to people in need in the aftermath of disasters.
The details of the Palo Alto restaurant concept have not yet been announced. The restaurant group operates eateries that range from fast-casual to Michelin-starred fine dining.
