From babka to brisket: Where to get Hanukkah meals on the Peninsula

Uploaded: Dec 9, 2020
If you haven't already made your food plans for Hanukkah -- which begins at sundown on Thursday, Dec. 10, and ends on Friday, Dec. 18 -- we're here to help. Here are nine local businesses making latkes, babka, brisket and other holiday fare for pickup and delivery.

Deja Vu Food

Jewish catering company Deja Vu Food has sufganiyot (including flavors like key lime pie and dulce de leche), several kinds of babka, challah, rugelach and other baked goods available for local pickup. UPDATE: Deja Vu is sold out except for Dec. 18, so get your orders in quickly. Due to high demand for the sufganiyot, however, owner Orit Hendler-Leib said they'll be available for online ordering after Hanukkah. dejavufood.com

It goes without saying that most of us have become cook-and-stay-at-home eaters. While your list of Hanukkah meal sources is certainly welcome, it would be really neat if you could also offer some of your favorite recipes for items such as brisket, latkes, and all the other holiday dishes available from the various restaurants and commercial kitchens that you have identified above.

Because times have changed and it's not my mothers kitchen of ninety years earlier anymore, I recently became a latke recipe collector, and by now could probably produce a potato pancake cook book on that subject. Amazing how many variations there are. And brisket alone also warrants its own cookbook.

If you have or know of any recipes for these meals that you have high regards for, please share them.
