Called Zadna Bowl, the restaurant is located at 461 Emerson St., last occupied by the short-lived Roost House.

Owner Rona Hani came to the United States from Jordan six years ago to attend business school. She wanted to start her own business and was looking at Palo Alto or Sunnyvale for a restaurant, but the best space available ended up in downtown Redwood City. She and her husband, Faiez Emoosh, opened Zadna on Broadway Street in 2016, but Palo Alto remained in the back of her mind, she said.
At Zadna Bowl, you can create your own adventure from a selection of proteins (including lamb, beef and chicken shawarma; chicken kebab and falafel) over saffron basmati rice, mujadara (a lentils, onions and rice dish), salad, French fries or in a wrap with a selection of toppings and sauces.
The Palo Alto location also serves grab-and-go specials, from cauliflower tahini tagine and moussaka to slow-cooked lamb shank. Sides include dalma, baba ghanoush, hummus and tabouleh.
Zadna Bowl is currently open for takeout and delivery in the evenings; call 650-384-6111 for current hours.
