Korean barbecue chain coming to Mountain View

Uploaded: Oct 4, 2018
UPDATE: Gen Korean BBQ House opened on Thursday, Nov. 9, according to a Facebook post from the restaurant.

Gen Korean BBQ House, where diners can grill their own all-you-can-eat meats, seafood and vegetables, is opening a new location in Mountain View.

Gen Korean BBQ is in the midst of remodeling 2540 W. El Camino Real, where Fresh Choice closed several years ago.

Diners will be able to grill everything from bone-in short rib, pork belly and shrimp to beef tongue, pork jowl and cow intestine. View the menu here. There will be, of course, banchan, or traditional Korean side dishes.

Prices and selections vary by location, but at a San Jose Gen BBQ, lunch is $16.99 with 27 menu options and dinner is $24.99 with 35 options.

The chain's locations are largely in Southern California, but there are Bay Area outposts in San Jose, Fremont and Milpitas. Two San Jose locations drew major lines when they opened.

Democracy.
What is it worth to you?

"Recently closed" in an interesting phrase. Didn't the Fresh Choice close 5 years ago?

Good for Gen, though. High traffic area.

Bean: Thanks for pointing that out! I've corrected the story.

Great, maybe the lines will be shorter at one of the older locations and I can finally go!

I'd love to see some reporting on why the owners of this restaurant thought it would be a good idea to have a Now Hiring sign that says "Must Have a Brain".
