No longer: The 1149 Chestnut St. cafe is now pouring wine and beer and staying open later three days out of the week, with plans to soon be open until 10 p.m. daily.

Coffeebar is the fifth in a string of cafes located in the Tahoe area, added this weekend a 40-wine list, with 12 available by the glass, owner Greg Buchheister said. There’s a mix of new California wines, Italian wines, French wines and a few "outliers," he said.
"It will mirror our coffee and food philosophy in the sense that we will work with farmers that we believe are doing the best job to cultivate the highest quality product in a responsible way," Buchheister wrote in an email. "We really hope that Menlo Park will embrace it so we transform from a coffee bar by day to wine bar by night."
Wine is available any time but there will be wine table service after 6 p.m. in the bar and booth areas of the cafe. There's also a smaller beer selection available.
Coffeebar will also add tapas-style food to go with the wine. The cafe partners with local farms to source fresh produce, dairy and other food products (including fresh bread from Mountain View bakery The Midwife & the Baker).
Coffeebar is now open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and 3 p.m. the other days of the week. Buchheister hopes to soon move to a daily 7 p.m. closing time and then to be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting in mid-June. The cafe has struggled to hire sufficient staff to support the larger menu and longer hours.
