Queen Bee Ice Cream shutters

Uploaded: Oct 29, 2017
After seven years of business, Queen Bee Ice Cream at Marsh Manor Shopping Center in Redwood City will close its doors today, Sunday, Oct. 29.

Owner DeAndra Axlund is retiring, according to an email sent out by the shopping center.

"We will greatly miss having Queen Bee at Marsh Manor, and wish to thank DeAndra ... for making the shopping experience here just a little bit sweeter," the email reads.

Queen Bee sold Marianne's Ice Cream from Santa Cruz, including its own signature flavor: See’s molasses chips, dark chocolate and honey in a vanilla base. The menu also included ice cream sandwiches, malts and ice cream-filled cupcakes.

The shop won best ice cream/frozen yogurt in the Almanac's 2015 Best Of competition.

Queen Bee will be open on its last day from 1-7 p.m.
