Palo Alto's Printer's Cafe opens wine bar

Uploaded: Sep 1, 2017
In the evenings, Printer's Cafe in Palo Alto now swaps its coffee cups and sandwiches for wine glasses and small bites.

Owner Mahmood Saljooqi recently opened Moods Wine Bar inside the California Avenue cafe, with a newly remodeled bar area, complete with decorative wine barrels.

The wine bar serves mostly local, California wines by the glass and bottle, plus some vintages from Spain, France, Australia and other countries. Beer is available by the bottle. A new food menu includes snacks like hummus, olives, pizza and popcorn.

Saljooqi said he's "always wanted to open a wine bar and the Printers Cafe was a perfect spot."

"I took the casual, friendly atmosphere people count on from Printers Cafe and extended it to an
evening experience," he said.

Gallery House, an an artist-run gallery that shares space with Printers Cafe, will soon stay open later so people can peruse the art with a glass of wine in hand.

"I can't think of a better combination than art and wine," Gallery House board member Ruth-Anne Siegel said in an announcement.

Moods joins two other wine bars in close proximity on California Avenue: Calave and Vin Vino Wine.

Moods is open from Monday-Thursday, 4-11 p.m., and Friday-Saturday, 4 p.m. to midnight.

Starting Sept. 7, Gallery House's new hours will be Tuesday-Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (The wine bar is not open on Sunday.)

Moods Wine Bar will hold a grand opening on Friday, Sept. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at 320 California Ave. Check out the wine menu below:
