If tea sandwiches, scones and bottomless pots of tea are your thing, look forward to the opening of Lovejoy's Tea Room in Redwood City in early December.
Gina Meyers, a Menlo Park resident and former employee of the original Lovejoy's in San Francisco, plans to open a new outpost at 901 Main St., according to a press release announcing the opening. Read an interview with her in this Almanac story: Menlo Park resident aims to slow down the caffeine scene.
The Redwood City location will be similar to one in San Francisco, where customers drink tea out of delicate china, sitting in mismatched chairs and surrounded by British decor and shelves of teapots. Lovejoy's serves teas, scones, tea sandwiches, crumpets and "pub fare" among other items. (View the menu here.) Lovejoy’s first opened in San Francisco in the early 1990's, according to the tea room's website.
The Redwood City Lovejoy's will offer "traditional tea service in a most unique and unpretentious setting, blending together the traditions of tea service with an eclectic, quirky, and playful spirit," the release reads.
The tea room will also serve food like shepherd's pie, sausage rolls, soup, salads, and quiche.
