Zareen's, which serves traditional as well as more fusion-style Pakistani and Indian food, is opening at 365 California Ave., the former home of create-your-own pizza chain Pizza Studio. The restaurant is holding a "friends and family" event on Thursday, then opening to the public on Friday, owner Zareen Khan wrote in an email.

The restaurant will start with limited hours in the first month of business — lunch only for the first six days, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday after that, Khan said. She plans to "be up to full operations in November."
Khan, who grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, opened the first Zareen's in a Mountain View strip mall just off Shoreline Boulevard in 2014. She decided recently to open another location not only to secure more space (the Mountain View restaurant seats only 15 inside and has limited kitchen space) but also because the original Zareen's could be forced to close if the City of Mountain View approves LinkedIn's plans to build a massive 10-building campus at the Plymouth Drive site and surrounding area.
The Palo Alto restaurant will serve the same food as the Mountain View location, Khan has said, with some additions as a result of the increased kitchen space. Check out the menu here.
