Redwood City to host first-ever restaurant week

Uploaded: Apr 7, 2015
Redwood City is celebrating its "up-and-coming" dining scene with a first-ever restaurant week this month, during which participating eateries will offer discounted, special fixed menus.

Some Redwood City restaurants have participated before in the annual Silicon Valley Restaurant Week, but this will be the first dedicated to their city. The event was created by the Redwood City Downtown Business Group, which also coordinates the city's Friday Night Summer Concert Series and annual Hometown Holidays Children's Festival.

"The days of 'Deadwood City' are over!" the event's Facebook page proclaims.

Thirteen Redwood City restaurants from LV Mar to Donato Enoteca will be serving three-course, prix fixe menus for $20 to $55 per person from Thursday, April 23, through Wednesday, April 29. To view each restaurant's special menu and cost, go to redwoodcityrestaurantweek.com.

"The time is right to bring awareness to our changing downtown area and high-quality dining scene," Downtown Business Group Alpio Barbara is quoted on the event's website. "With a full array of high-quality restaurant options, peninsula residents can enjoy a 'night out' without traveling to San Francisco."

The participating restaurants are:

- Amie's Wine Bar
- Angelica's
- Arya Global Cuisine
- Bangkok Bay
- Crouching Tiger
- Donato Enoteca
- Downtown
- La Viga
- LV Mar
- Palermo
- Paradise Kabab House
- Portobello Grill
- Sakura
- Vino Santo

Thanks for this. What a nice selection of restaurants, with two winners of the Michelin Gourmand Bib awards, Crouching Tiger and Donato Enoteca.

Redwood City has really spiffed up in the last decade or so with all the new restaurants, the restoration of The Fox and The Little Fox for live music, their summer Movies on the Square, the movie theaters and their outdoor concert series.

Redwood City is the best. I go to the Friday night Civic Center festivities during the summer and they have the best cover bands. Redwood City rocks compared to the other cities on the peninsula. Glad to see the restaurants are adding to the party.
